Course Information

Technological advances feature significantly in the development of the aerospace engineering field. Although the modern aircraft has evolved to become highly sophisticated machines, there is still a need for pilots and crew with sound knowledge to operate these vessels safely.

Learning Outcomes

Take your career as a pilot or aircraft maintenance crew to greater heights with an in-depth knowledge and understanding of commercial avionics in civil aviation. Topics on air navigation, surveillance and communication systems such as the Automatic Directional Finder (ADF), VHF Omni-directional Range (VOR), Distance Measuring Equipment (DME), Instrument Landing System (ILS), Inertial Navigation System (INS), RADAR and ATC Transponder will be covered.

Lesson Plan

This course consists of 1 modules:

  • Introduction to Navigation (1 hour)
  • Automatic Direction Finder (ADF) (1 hour)
  • VHF Omni-directional Range (VOR) (1 hour)
  • Distance Measuring Equipment (DME) (1 hour)
  • Instrument Landing System (ILS) (1 hour)
  • Inertial Navigation System (INS) (1 hour)

Certification

Certificate of Participation will be awarded to participants who achieve at least 75% attendance.
