Course Information

Shipbuilding is a complex engineering process where the quality of the final product cannot be compromised. It is a conglomeration of different skill trades working together to achieve a common goal. As such clear management is tantamount not only to ensure a process that is reliable, but one that guarantees safety for all.

Learning Outcomes

Build your future in the marine industry with a deeper understanding of marine safety practices and standards. Plan and apply best practices in carrying out Hull, Outfitting and Shipwright activities. You will also acquire the basics of marine production processes in marine production yards as well as skills in marine production yards layout design.

Aims to refresh and deepen your knowledge of production processes in marine production yards incorporating marine safety practices, standards and requirements.

Yard Layout Design
Provides knowledge and skills in marine production yards layout design for considerations of various business functions and production-flow efficiencies.

OJT in Shipyard Operations for Work-Study students
You will get to apply the knowledge learnt from the previous two modules in the context of the workplace environment to demonstrate your understanding of domain knowledge, by developing OJT tasks from existing workplace experience.
Certificate in Marine Commissioning & Specialisation
Module
Marine Commissioning
Aims to equip you with technical knowledge and procedures for successful commissioning to be carried out, on the importance of the commissioning process flow including safety aspects, procedures incorporating QA and QC standards and practices and requirements of various systems.

Marine Specialization in Hull, Outfitting & Shipwright
Provides specialisation knowledge and skills in marine production specialization in discipline of Hull, Outfitting and Shipwright in views of scope of work, tasks performed at stages and standard procedures in production, planning and applying marine industry common practices, standards and other requirements in carrying out the inspection activities.
