Course Information

As children transition to young adulthood, the focus on their social, emotional and psychological needs is significant in how they develop and progress. As educators, the knowledge to help young people make the right choices at this stage in their lives is critical as this will have a wider impact in their future.

Learning Outcomes

Make an impact on young lives with evidence-based practices. This course, co-developed with Youth Work Association Singapore, will help you to identify, analyze and interpret causes of children’s challenging behavior and be equipped with skills to develop and implement a set of basic behavioral strategies to meet students’ social emotional learning needs.

Lesson Plan

This course consists of 1 modules:

  • Understand and appreciate youth work in the local context
    Provides an understanding of the broader social and cultural context of youth work in Singapore
  • Learning journey and fieldwork
    Provides exposure to real work setting of a local youth agency with opportunities to interact with youth practitioners and youth residents.
  • Apply strategies to connect with youths more purposefully
    Introduces strategies like active listening and positive mentoring skills to build rapport and relationship with youths
  • Understand and apply basic intervention skills to guide and mentor youths
    Equips participants with knowledge about youths’ psychological & behavioral issues and application skills to address common youth problems

Certification

A Certificate of Performance will be awarded to participants who achieve at least 75% attendance and pass all required assessment(s).


A Certificate of Participation will be awarded to participants who meet the 75% attendance requirement but did not pass all required assessment(s).
