Perioperative nursing is one of the most rewarding careers you can have as you strive to prolong and improve the quality of a patient’s life, pre- and post-operation. It offers unending challenges and areas of professional and personal growth, demanding emotional stamina, attention to detail, flexibility, technical skills and an ability to communicate effectively.
Learning Outcomes
This course will provide all you need to know about patients’ surgical experiences and how to care for them. You will learn essential skills and knowledge in patient counselling, evidence-based practice, and identifying laboratory data for health assessment._x000D_

You will gain an understanding of the Singapore health system, the pathophysiology of the diseased state, the legal and medical issues in nursing practice, the various sub-disciplines of surgical procedures, and patient counselling. You will also gain experience in applying what you have learnt through clinical training.

You are required to complete 4 post-diploma certificates within 3-year validity period to be awarded the Advanced Diploma qualification.
Entry Requirements

- A local Polytechnic Diploma/ Degree in Health Sciences (Nursing) or equivalent
- Be a Registered Nurse with valid practicing certificate from the Singapore Nursing Board (SNB); and
- Have at least 2 years of clinical nursing practice; and
- Have a minimum of 1 year practice in the nursing specialty – nursing practice related to perioperative nursing

Successful applicants will need to undergo a compulsory medical examination and vaccinations before semester starts. Please see details and instruction in the medical examination form for submission of all the required documents.
