Course Information

Japan has certainly enriched our lives whether it is through manga or anime, the latest high-tech offerings, or its fascinating traditions and arts. To fully understand Japan’s multiple layers and cultural nuances, perhaps the best way is to learn its language. More than just grammar, this Beginner’s course informs you with valuable communication skills and a knowledge of Japanese mannerism and etiquette.

Learning Outcomes

At the end of the course, you should be able to communicate in simple Japanese with Japanese speakers, as well as acquired a basic knowledge of the Japanese culture. Common social situations will be covered such as having a meal at a restaurant, shopping and going to the movies. This highly-interactive course focuses primarily on speaking and communication skills. Lessons are conducted in Japanese as much as possible and audio-visual materials will be used to supplement the instructor’s input.

Lesson Plan

This course consists of 1 modules:

  • Self-introduction
  • Numbers – “How much is this?”
  • Time and date – “What time is it now?”
  • Weekend plans – “What do you do on Sunday?”
  • Places – “I go to Japan”
  • Grammar: Basic sentence, Structure, Particles, Number, Verbs

Trainer's Profile

Yoko Fujita

Ms. Yoko Fujita has been teaching at various schools such as universities and polytechnics in Singapore. She has been teaching in the School of Interdisciplinary Studies at Ngee Ann polytechnic for more than 5 years. In addition, she is one of the popular lecturers in Japanese courses.

Certification

A Certificate of Performance will be awarded to participants who achieve at least 75% attendance and pass all required assessment(s).


A Certificate of Participation will be awarded to participants who meet the 75% attendance requirement but did not pass all required assessment(s).
